Fire Restriction May 1, 2025 until further notice

A FIRE Restriction has been issued for the Town of Onoway: Effective Thursday, May 1, 2025, until further notice.
Fire hazard conditions in light and medium fuels are at a level where fires can start and grow quickly. With a significant warming trend in the weather forecast, hazards will also increase.
  • No open burning fires or major burn operations are allowed, and no fireworks.
  • SAFE fires in acceptable fire pits, burn barrels/incinerators with screens, pellet smokers or other enclosed outdoor wood-fired appliances as well as gas/propane stoves, and barbeques are allowed with conditions.
  • A SAFE fire under this restriction is a CONTINUOUSLY monitored fire of LIMITED size for cooking, warming, or recreation, burning within an ACCEPTABLY constructed fire pit or appliance, with a spark-arresting screen, no more than 1 meter in diameter and 60 cm (24 inches) in height, built on a non-combustible surface. No burning of any kind for any reason with winds above 15km/hr. No burning without an acceptable extinguishing method immediately at hand.
  • No further fire permits for any open fire under the bylaw will be issued.
  • Current permits issued may be suspended or cancelled at any time.
Please report any wildfire to 9-1-1 with the exact location to assist Fire Personnel in locating and extinguishing these fires. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
