Notice of Intent to be Nominated

As per the LAEA Section 147.22 prospective candidates may not accept campaign funds without filing a Notice of Intent with the Town of Onoway of their intention to be nominated for Office.  

Please note that this notice is not the same as a Nomination, and the individual's name will not appear on a ballot unless a Nomination Paper, and Candidate's Acceptance has been accepted by the Returning Officer prior to Nomination Day. 

The following is a register of those individuals who have filed a Notice of Intent to be nominated in the Town of Onoway. If they have filed their Nomination Papers it will be noted/dated, until the Nomination papers are filed they are not an Official Candidate.  Contact information is provided only for candidates who have filed nomination papers.

Voter Registry Information

To vote in the 2025 municipal election in the Town of Onoway, you must be: 

  • At least 18 years of age; 
  • A Canadian citizen;  and,
  • A resident of the Town of Onoway on the day that you vote.

To be ready to vote, please confirm your information is correct with VOTERLINK, from which the Town of Onoway receives its list of eligible voters.

VOTER IDENTIFICATION

At the voting station, voters must provide identification that proves your identity and current residence. Any of the of the following documents with the voter’s name and address will be accepted: 

  • Identification issued by a Canadian government or agency of that government that contains a photograph of the elector and their name and current address. 
  • Bank or credit card statement or personal cheque. 
  • Government cheque or cheque stub. 
  • Income or property tax assessment notice. 
  • Insurance policy or coverage card. 
  • Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee. 
  • Pension plan statement of benefits, contributions or participation. 
  • Residential lease or mortgage statement. 
  • Statement of government benefits (e.g., employee insurance, old-age security, social assistance, disability support, child tax benefit). 
  • Utility bill (e.g., telephone, hydro, gas or water). 
  • Vehicle ownership, registration or insurance certificate. 

A letter or form confirming a person lives at a stated address will also be accepted. The letter can be signed prior to the vote by an authorized representative of the following: 

  • Commercial property management company 
  • Correctional institution
  • First Nations band or reserve 
  • Post-secondary institution
  • Facility that provides services to the unhoused 
  • Supportive living facility or treatment centre 

If a voter’s identification shows a post office box number as the address instead of a residential or legal address, it can be accepted as verification of their current address if it is a reasonable distance to the voting jurisdiction.
